About Laura
Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, Laura always had a strong love for clothes and fashion, starting with dress up exploring different fabrics, silhouettes and patterns with the stylish women in her family. Growing up, she would sketch different outfits and play around with business names. Knowing she wanted to have a future career in fashion, she attended Middle Tennessee State University and obtained her degree in fashion merchandising.
During her time at Middle Tennessee, Laura was lucky enough to attend trade shows, observe the buyer process firsthand and intern with showrooms in New York and Los Angeles, gaining knowledge and inspiration. She loved seeing the contrasting styles that were so evident in each city.
Laura then moved to Nashville to start a career in retail. While visiting Nashville previously, she had fallen in love with one of the most beautifully curated stores and was determined to get her first job there – and she did! Along with retail sales and merchandising, she also had the pleasure of assisting in styling jobs and photoshoots. She knew she wanted to eventually open her own store.
After three years in Nashville, she relocated to Atlanta to continue to gain more experience working in sales and retail and serving as an assistant stylist.
Life eventually brought Laura home to Knoxville, which she is incredibly grateful for. Her experiences working in social media, marketing and eventually managing a local favorite boutique led her to take the leap and finally open Truxx Collective, her lifelong dream, in 2023.
